27 Oct DIY Beeswax Food Wraps
Beeswax food wraps are a brilliant eco-friendly alternative to plastic wrap — reusable, biodegradable, and beautifully customisable. They keep food fresh while reducing waste, and they also make thoughtful handmade gifts.

You’ll need:
- 100% cotton fabric (3 patterns, ½ yard each)
- 1½ cups white beeswax pellets
- ½ cup crushed pine resin
- 1½ tbsp jojoba oil
- Microwave-safe jar
- 2-inch brush
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper
- Scissors or pinking shears
- Ruler

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 150°F (66°C). If your oven doesn’t go that low, 200°F is fine.
- Cut the cotton fabric into your desired shapes — squares, circles, or rectangles. A mix of sizes makes a lovely gift set.
- In a microwave-safe jar, melt the pine resin, then add beeswax and jojoba oil. Heat in short bursts, stirring after each interval, until fully melted.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and lay your fabric pieces flat.

- Using the brush, coat each fabric evenly with the melted mixture, ensuring all edges are covered.
- Bake for about 5 minutes, allowing the wax to soak in.
- Remove from the oven and gently brush from the centre outwards to ensure even distribution.
- Once cool enough to handle, peel off the wraps and let them dry on clean parchment or hang them up. Trim any uneven edges.

To gift them: Fold your wraps neatly, wrap them in cardstock with a “How to Use” and “Care Instructions” label, and secure with glue or tape. Eco-conscious, practical, and elegant — these handmade beeswax wraps make sustainable living a little more beautiful.
