27 Oct DIY: How to Turn a Maxi Dress into a Jumpsuit
Transforming an old maxi dress into a chic jumpsuit is easier than it sounds — and it’s a brilliant way to give new life to a garment you no longer wear. With just a few simple materials and a bit of stitching, you can create a completely new look that feels both effortless and modern.

You’ll need:
- A maxi dress
- Scissors
- Sewing machine & thread (or needle & thread)
- Sewing pins

Steps:
- Put on the dress and mark, with a pin, where you’d like the crotch of the jumpsuit to sit. This should be about 3–6 inches below your actual seat to avoid tightness or bunching.
- Take off the dress and lay it flat, ensuring the side seams are perfectly aligned.
- Cut from the bottom hem straight up towards the pin you placed earlier — this will form the two leg openings.
- Turn the dress inside out and align the newly cut sections. Pin along the edges to hold the fabric securely in place.
- Sew along the pinned line, either using a sewing machine for a clean finish or stitching by hand if you prefer a relaxed, DIY touch.

Once finished, turn your new jumpsuit right side out and try it on. You’ll have a unique, breezy outfit that’s perfect for summer days or casual evenings — stylish, sustainable, and entirely your own creation.
